Gippsland Championship
Qualification
Swimmers must compete in 3 local meets to satisfy the competition requirement to
compete at the Gippsland Championships in March. Meets through to All
Junior on 18th February satisfy this requirement, as does participation in the
Inter district team. As every opportunity to qualify is given, swimmers
who need meet 13 (Traralgon) as a qualifying meet may seek permission to use
this through the Secretary. A
table of qualified swimmers has been sent to entries officers for each club.

2013 Country Swimming Championships to be held in Gippsland
Swimming Victoria is pleased to announce that Sale will be the venue for the 2013 Country Long Course Swimming Championships from Friday 25 January – Sunday 27 January 2013.
The prestigious event will be hosted by Gippsland Swimming Inc. at the Lex Glover Regional Aquatics Complex with the support of the Wellington Shire Council.
Gippsland Swimming Inc. President, Jacqueline Madden, is excited to see the Country Championships return to the Gippsland District.
"The Championships received great support in 2009 and I expect next year’s event to be no different. It provides the Wellington Shire Council with a great opportunity to showcase the City of Sale and presents regional swimmers from across Victoria the chance to swim in one of the state’s best outdoor pools," said Madden.
The announcement was made by Swimming Victoria’s President, Geoff Hare, at this weekend’s 2012 Victorian Country Championships in Bendigo.
"It is exciting to see the Championships return to Gippsland after the success of the 2009 event. Swimming Victoria believes that Gippsland Swimming Inc.; in partnership with the Wellington Shire Council will host a fantastic swimming meet," said Hare.
The Country Championships is an event open to Swimming Victoria registered members of affiliated country clubs. The Gippsland region has produced some of Victoria’s current day swimming stars, including Australian 200m backstroke record holder Ash Delaney, Australian Institute of Sport member Jeremy Meyer and Victorian Institute of Sport member Andrew Cameron.
This announcement follows a whirlwind couple of weeks for Swimming Victoria after the success of the 2012 Victorian Open Championships which saw swimming great Ian Thorpe return to an Australian swimming pool for the first time since announcing his comeback.
