Gippsland Swimming 7-10 Team Wins Victorian Country Districts 7-10 Championships for 15th year in a row.
A team of sixty one swimmers represented Gippsland at the 7-10 Country Victorian District Championships held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on Saturday. Gippsland swimmers blitzed the Championship winning by over 1,000 points. Combined Final Team Scores were: 1st Gippsland District 1,678, 2nd Geelong District 599, 3rd Central Victoria District 549. Gippsland relay teams once again blitzed the opposition, entering 12 relays and coming home with 9 firsts and 3 seconds. Amongst the great results: The 10 year old girls team of Georgia Tsebelis (Traralgon), Sophie Fox (Sale), Hannah Matchett (Warragul) and Maggie O'Keefe (Traralgon) broke the Out of Gippsland record for the Girls 10 year old 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay with a time of 2.18.30. This time broke the previous record set by an Inter district District 21 team in 1996 by 3 seconds. Girls Team Captain was Georgia Tsebelis (Traralgon) and Boys Team Captain was Ian Melrose (Sale).
