GO CLUB DEVELOPMENT DAY

Gippsland Swimming Inc proudly sponsored by International Power Mitsui & Co. Loy Yang B and in conjunction with the Youth Advisory Committee hosted the 2010 Go Club Development Day at Latrobe Leisure Churchill on Saturday 31 July 2010.

Three time Olympian and former World Champion swimmer Michael Klim headed up the coaching team for the day with over 90 swimmers from around Gippsland attending.   Michael Klim won six Olympic medals in his glittering swimming career, proving himself one of the most versatile and popular swimmers of his generation.

Benefitting from his incredible knowledge and insight of the sport were members of the Gippsland Sports Academy and Gippsland Target Squad, together with many junior swimmers from a number of district clubs.  Michael provided coaching sessions for all swimmers as well as providing them with an entertaining and informative talk about his life in swimming.

Leah Fogarty from “Between the Ears” spoke to all groups about goal setting and self confidence whilst Sam Fenton provided expert advice on strength and conditioning.  WIN TV was in attendance to capture all the action and a BBQ lunch was provided to all participants.

Special thanks must go to Matt Dinsmore, Andrew Goetz, Melissa Stewart & Peta Whitby from the Youth Advisory Committee and who worked extremely hard to make the day such a success.
