(Saturday, 12th November 2011)
AND
2012 VICTORIAN COUNTRY INTERDISTRICT COMPETITION
(Saturday, 25th February 2012)
OVERVIEW
Each year our District will send two representative teams to the following
Victorian Country Competitions:
·
Victorian 7 – 10 Country Competition held at MSAC on Saturday, 12th November
2011.
· Victorian Country Interdistrict Competition held at
MSAC on Saturday, 25th February 2012.
Swimmers
interested in being a part of these teams will need to complete an “Availability
Form” found by selecting the D21 Teams Link on the Gippsland Swimming website (www.gippslandswimming.org.au).
From the
nominated available group of swimmers the teams will be chosen by the GSI
Program and Selection Committee using a database of times collected from
Swimming Victoria approved swim meets. Please note that nomination will not
ensure automatic selection.
DATABASE OF TIMES (displayed and updated regularly on the GSI website)
Results
from the following qualifying swim meets will automatically be included in the
database of times:
National Australian Open & Age
Championships (Long Course & Short Course)
State
Victorian Open & Age (LC & SC), Long Distance (LC), Qualifying (LC) & Sprint
(LC) Championships
Country Open/Age (LC &
SC) Championships, 7-10 Encouragement (LC), Interdistrict (LC) & All Junior (LC)
Competitions
Gippsland All GSI Summer Fixture Meets plus
privately run Gippsland Club meets (Long Course & Short Course)
Selection for the Victorian 7 – 10 Country Team will be based on times from Saturday, 12th March 2011 (Gippsland Championships) to Sunday, 16th October 2011.
Selection for the Victorian Country Interdistrict Team will be based on times
from Saturday 12th February 2011 (Victorian Sprint Championships) to Sunday,
29th January 2012.
The Program
and Selection Committee will consider both Long Course and Short Course times
for the selection of the Victorian 7-10 Country Team and Long Course times for
the Victorian Country Interdistrict Team. However the final decision will be
left up to the discretion of the Committee.
If swimmers
wish to use times outside those collected by the Program and Selection Committee
(i.e metropolitan & country club meets or school meets) it will be the swimmer’s
responsibility to supply the Program and Selection Committee with proof of times
achieved. These results must be in a Team Manager or Meet Manager file or
provide website links to club results. These results must be from qualifying
meets and must be verifiable.
Parents and
swimmers are encouraged to check the District database of times from the D21
Link on the Gippsland Swimming website (www.gippslandswimming.org.au ) to ensure
swimmer’s best times are noted. A history of qualifying meets entered into the
Database is also listed on this Link.
If you find
discrepancies in any of the published results or you believe that times have
been omitted please do not hesitate to contact Debbie or Mark Waltham, Selection
Secretary via the contact methods at the end of this information sheet.
